Bears Back on Campus!

After an amazing July and a great first few weeks of August, I am back in the Village! Being in Ada one last time is a little bittersweet. I’m sure one day I may add a master’s degree to my education but for now, this is my last year of school. I’m torn between being excited and being sad that something so great is going to be over soon. My time at ONU has been nothing short of amazing and I know Senior year will follow suit. Now, enough with the sappiness, it’s time to chat about how great my first two weeks back have been!

While I live off campus, I “moved in” Friday, August 16, for cross-country camp and it was such a fun week! Not only was I reunited with my p-bears, but I got to do so many fun activities. We started the week off with a two-mile time trial and while I didn’t run as well as I wanted, it was nice just getting to run with my friends again! The remainder of the week was spent doing lots of team activities and avoiding Mac attack. We went canoeing, swimming and bowling. We even had a movie night and team Olympics. Sadly, Canada was second place for the second year in a row. There were other smaller activities sprinkled throughout the week, but I feel like these were the highlights. When there weren’t team-sanctioned events going on, we had the opportunity to hang out on our own. The Friday before we started classes, the women’s team went out to dinner and hung out. It was a blast! It felt nice to see my friends every day without having to Facetime them.

The second week has also been great! I started classes and started prepping for my capstone class, it’s wild to me that I am working on Capstone when I’m pretty sure my first day of college was just a few days ago and not years! I’m looking forward to seeing how this semester goes. I’m taking a lot of classes that allow me to do projects I’m passionate about and interested in. I also feel like I’m in a great space with running and my team is going to crush it this season. Our first race is on Friday, so it will be a good end to the first week of Senior year. I can’t wait to see what else awaits!

That’s all for now,

Abby

  1. Your senior year sounds like it's going to be so exciting! Good luck on your race on Friday and it sounds like you have an amazing team to support you while you run.
