Labor Day Weekend Fun

I can say with confidence that I successfully made it through the first week of senior year! While the week wasn’t too stressful, I was thankful for a three-day weekend filled with lots of exciting activities. As discussed in my last blog, this Friday was the first cross-country race of the season. It went great!

While the meet only consisted of a few schools and had some pretty hot weather, it was still an exciting season opener for the team and an opportunity to race without pushing too hard. Typically, women will run 6ks but this weekend was an exception with the course being a 5k for us. Both the women’s and men’s teams walked away with the victory. Seven women, including myself, as well as six men finished in the top 10 of the races. We race again this weekend in Shelbyville, Indiana. This time, it will be a full 6k! I’m excited to see how well I can race when it’s not a blistering 90 degrees out. I am not thrilled about the 5:30 am departure time, but bus rides make for great naps.

Outside of running, and I did a lot of it this weekend, I was able to spend some quality time with friends and family. I played pickleball almost every day with either Dani or Trent which is a great way to spend a day off if you ask me. Saturday when we played at the Ada Park, I made a new friend! This sweet cat walked up to us on the tennis court and was chatting away. We dubbed her Pickles as it seemed to fit. I also spent the weekend catching up on laundry, grocery shopping, homework and cleaning. While these are not as exciting as other activities, it was so nice getting things I needed done out of the way! It made this week a little easier and helped me feel less stressed about everything I had going on this week.

It may just be me, but sometimes I find cleaning to be relaxing and a way for me to destress. I get too focused on feeling like I have to be doing something all the time or I struggle to enjoy downtime. Cleaning allows me to focus my productivity in another way and allows me to enjoy relaxing a lot more! Besides catching up on big kid chores, I also learned this weekend that I have never taken Trent to get ice cream at the Dairy B! So we capped the weekend off with a nice walk over there and I introduced Trent to the best ice cream in town. If I had a say in the matter, I think I would make every weekend a three-day weekend. This weekend was truly great and I was thankful for it!

That’s all for now,

Abby
