Last week, I wrote about how excited I was for my weekend. I had plenty of activities planned and lots to do. This week, with some disappointment, I’m writing that it did not go as planned. Wednesday evening I felt a little more drained than I normally would. I had been feeling a little rough the whole week, but chalked it up to sinus issues and being tired from a long week of training. I feel like I have a few problems with my sinuses, especially with weather changes and allergies. Well, after a few hours, I was beyond stuffy and feeling no better!

Thursday morning I woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck and it only continued to go downhill as the day went on. I was not happy about this. After taking my AP and news quiz, I went home and slept for three hours. I spent the rest of my evening on the couch and doing everything I could to feel better. This also meant that I was more than likely not racing on Friday and depending on how I felt, would have to cancel most of my Saturday plans.

Friday morning I woke up feeling better, but was still stuffy. I was allowed to travel to our cross-country meet and made a plan with my coach to try and race. If I didn’t feel good, I was allowed to slow down or be done. The warm-up went well, but shortly after 2k in the race, I needed to stop and ended up walking off the course. I knew it was the best decision because if I had tried to push through the whole thing, I would be in a worse spot than I started! Even though I didn’t have the race I wanted, I did get to see a lot of my family! That made it worth trying.

Unfortunately, this was not the only thing to not go according to plan. My mom’s car ended up breaking down Saturday so she was unable to come visit me or go to the Herb and Harvest Festival. Thankfully my mom was okay and got back to her house, but I was sad to miss out on a fun day with her. I did still attend the festival with Friends since I was feeling much better than I did Thursday. I got a really good iced coffee and some kettle corn. I was also able to attend the Sadie Hawkins dance that evening for the team, so not everything went wrong!

The weekend was not what I planned or expected, and I still don’t have my voice back from being under the weather and all of the activity on Saturday, but it was still good. Hopefully, this weekend at home will go much smoother!

That’s all for now,

Abby

Clementine and I before the dance!
