Busy Weeks Turn to Fun Weekends
This week has been very busy but not filled with necessarily fun stuff. I enjoy my classes and projects, I love running and having an apartment has been great — but I am pretty maxed out for the week. It’s a lot taking 18 credit hours, having two or more hours of practice every day, projects and keeping up the apartment. So, needless to say, I am very excited for this weekend. I feel like everything crept up on me this week, so I am looking forward to a few fun days.
On Friday, our cross-country team is racing at the All-Ohio meet in Cedarville. Here, colleges from all over the state, any division, race. By the end of registration, the racing field is about 300 to 400 runners deep, which is a lot of people on a skinny path for 6k! It will be a little warm for the race, but the course is one of my favorites and decently fast so I think it will still go well! I’m also excited to race because a lot of my family will be traveling to watch me run! This will be the first meet of the season that my parents will be able to attend. My mom is also staying the night on Friday for siblings and family weekend, so that will be fun!
Even though I’ve been a student at ONU for a few years, I haven’t attended the Harvest Festival or Siblings and Family Day. I guess I might as well senior year! After my mom and I hang out for the day, I’ll have to get my run in and then get ready for my team’s Sadie Hawkins Dance. A Sadie Hawkins is a dance where the gals ask the guys, and our team always makes posters for it. We also have a Sadie’s court and queen and king. It’s a whole thing and a lot of fun! Once we get ready for the dance, the women’s team meets at the senior house to take pictures and hang out before the dance. The seniors also pass out paper plate awards for the team. This yearly tradition is a highlight of the season for me and I can’t believe it’s my year to be in charge of it! I’ve worked on sending out the voting forms for the court, sashes, paper plate awards and ordering the crowns. I’m looking forward to having such a fun night with my team on Saturday.
After Friday and Saturday’s excitement, I will get a very chill Sunday! I plan to get as much homework done as possible before the weekend so that I can relax as much as possible and get ready for another week of school and running.
That’s all for now,
Abby
I feel the exact same way about my week! It feels like I've had the rug ripped out from under me. I think it's so cool that your team does a Sadie Hawkins dance! Good luck at your meet and I hope you have a nice, long weekend.
ReplyDeleteAbby,
ReplyDeleteI totally understand how you’re feeling! Balancing everything along with running can be really challenging, but I believe in you—you’ve got this! I’ve always enjoyed the All-Ohio Meet, so I hope you have an amazing time racing there. And you’re going to love the Harvest and Herb Festival—I hope to see you there!
