“Groundhog Day” Staring ME!

If you are unfamiliar with the movie “Groundhog Day”, I’ll give a quick rundown of the plot. Essentially, a TV weatherman goes to cover a story in the town of Punxsutawney about their Groundhog Day celebrations. This somehow leads the main character to repeat the same day every time he wakes up, a constant loop of all the good and bad things that happen to him. However, in my version, I’m playing the weatherman. Not Bill Murray.

I feel like I've been repeating the same day since Sunday and I wish I’d get out of the loop because it’s not like I’m repeating the best day of my life. So far this week, I’ve been late to almost everything and things continue to pile up. My motto for the week is, “If it’s not one thing, it’s another.” I think the worst part when you have an off week is trying to not be a pessimistic person or not letting every little thing take away from your day. It’s hard though when you miss your alarm and are almost late to class, forget to pack your lunch, have deadlines quickly approaching, have a headache that refuses to go away and less than six hours of sleep under your belt.

My freshman year of high school!
I don’t enjoy writing about how rough of a week I’ve had for my blog, but I haven’t had anything too exciting to share and I feel like I should keep it real. On a positive note, I no longer have a sinus infection and I do get to travel to a cool cross-country meet this weekend. This season has been my most successful cross-country season in college, I’ve consistently been in the top six on my team which is my highest spot yet. So, because I’m in a varsity position, I have the great opportunity to travel to the Division III Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute. This is an opportunity for teams to travel with their varsity roster and race at the Nationals course before the National meet in November (which you have to qualify for, so this may be your one chance to run the course. Hopefully not for us)!

The cool thing about this course is that my high school team also raced here every year in the Nike Midwest Region open race. Seven years later, I get to stop at where I started 5ks to wrap up my last year of collegiate running. Neat! I’m hoping this trip makes this week go back uphill, otherwise, I will be even more excited for fall break! Can tomorrow be October 12th? I guess I can wait one week.

That’s all for now,

Abby
