Baby Showers and Family Fun

As I’ve mentioned before, my sister-in-law is having a baby in December! This week marks one month until Baby Wilson joins us. I’m eager and excited to meet him! We still don’t know his name, but Trent and I are excited to be his aunt and uncle. Saturday we held a baby shower for Kort. This was the first one I had been to in ten years. It was the perfect day and fun!

Kort had a theme for the shower, “A Bushel and a Peck.” This meant lots of apple, red and green decor. It was done tastefully and the theme was adorable. Trent and I drove from Ada to their house in Centerville so that I could help set up the shower. While Trent’s family and I worked on putting everything together at the venue, he worked on the nursery for Baby Wilson. We started by prepping the food. There were a lot of dishes and all of it was delicious. We had cheese and meat boards, apple-shaped cake pops, chicken salad sandwiches, bread with jam, brie bites, and a popcorn bar! I think I ended up having three plates just to try everything available.

Following the food prep, we decorated the tables and put together the balloon backdrop. The tables had greenery with apples and candles in the center. The balloon backdrop was set up behind Kort’s seat. Then, it was time for the shower to begin! It was nice having so many people present to celebrate Kort and the baby. My favorite part was watching her open gifts. There were so many cute baby clothes, however, I’m almost positive that she received enough for Baby Wilson to have five outfits a day. After the shower, we hauled everything back to Kort and Nick’s house.

The Mayne Sisters!

We all changed into comfy clothes and enjoyed some Wally's pizza! This pizza joint is a Mayne family tradition, one I’ve come to love, so it’s required at almost every family function. It was nice seeing Trent’s family whom we live far away from and chatting with everyone. As I’ve gotten older, visiting loved ones or quality time with those in my life has become one of my favorite things. I love family functions and holidays because of it. Now, I just hold tight for a few more weeks to meet Baby W. Fingers crossed he doesn’t arrive in the middle of a final exam! I can’t wait to be an aunt!

That’s all for now,

Abby
