Thanksgiving Break

Last week was great. A break from classes was much needed and gave me a chance to catch up on schoolwork. However, I still have plenty to do. Thankfully, MJ and I presented our client project on Tuesday, which takes one thing off my plate! It went well—it was a good project—and I’m excited it’s over so my stress level can decrease slightly. Once my capstone is complete next week and I finish my digital magazine for layout and design, I’m not sure what I’ll work on in my free time. I suppose I can study for finals, especially since I’ll need it for macro.

By Saturday, I could say I had three separate Thanksgiving meals, each fantastic. I understand it wouldn’t be healthy or affordable to eat Thanksgiving every week, but I wish I could. My first meal was with friends at my apartment the Thursday before break. I made the turkey—it turned out great—and my friends brought side dishes. After we ate, we lounged in my living room for about half an hour.

My second Thanksgiving dinner was at my in-laws’ house. I was in charge of pies, so, of course, I brought pumpkin and pecan. If you aren’t a fan of pumpkin pie, I’m not sure what dessert you eat at Thanksgiving! My mom was also able to join us, which was nice. My third Thanksgiving was with my dad’s side of the family, including my grandma, my dad’s siblings and their spouses, my cousins, and my brother. Normally, my dad would have been there, but he was in Alabama with his wife’s family. We had all the traditional food and played hours of card games. I improved my euchre skills but still haven’t mastered a poker face.

After our final round of euchre, we got a surprise—my dad! He and Barri were supposed to be traveling home Saturday, so we didn’t expect to see them since they’d been on the road for 10 hours. He decided to stop by anyway, and it was a lovely surprise. In between all the meals, I did schoolwork, went for a run (my first in a week and a half), and enjoyed plenty of fun times with family and friends. I also went Christmas shopping at Easton. I love going there when they have all of the Christmas decor up, it’s so pretty. Every store has lights strung across the front of it. This is easily my favorite time of the year. Only two more weeks until Christmas break—yay!

That’s all for now,

Abby
